About: Kelly
I was born into a family full of educators, so you could say I've been greatly influenced by teachers my whole life. Growing up, I enjoyed helping my mom decorate her classroom and grade papers. I liked spending time at school and often volunteered to stay after class to help my teachers with projects. I have very happy memories of those days and the utmost respect for the teachers that had such a profound impact on my life.
My first experience with tutoring was when I was 11-years-old. I was selected to be a peer mentor and began tutoring my fellow classmates. My mentoring efforts were focused on students who came from disadvantaged homes, so it was a great opportunity to provide educational support to someone who might not otherwise receive it. There is no denying that with access to quality education and the support of family and teachers during the learning process, a person has an increased chance of success in life. I realized spending a little of my time helping a struggling classmate would have a lasting impact. Now, as a member of the GlobalScholar Customer Care department, I work to connect students online with the best tutor to satisfy their educational needs. It's rewarding being able to bring together a student and tutor from across the world to enhance the learning process.
I've been fortunate to have a variety of work experiences prior to coming to GlobalScholar. After receiving my Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida, I moved to Washington, DC and worked for a U.S. Congressman from Florida. Through correspondence and meetings, I had the opportunity to educate the Congressman's constituents on his policies and the workings of the federal government. After moving to Seattle, I worked in administration at the University of Washington. Then, I spent a year in marketing at Microsoft advising recruiter's on marketing communications and planning recruiting events. I'm grateful for my diverse work experiences, but am pleased to be back working in education. I look forward to growing with GlobalScholar and being part of the quest to empower the world to learn.
