Online learning predominately takes place through e-mail, instant messenger services,
and chat boards and forums. Communication with your professor will most likely take
place over e-mail, while others provide a phone number and office hours.
What can I expect?
Typically, your first assignment after registering for online courses is to become
familiar with the online learning platform. You will be provided with the tools
and instructions on how to view assignments, read the syllabus, and access chat boards,
lectures, and reading materials.
Communication between you and your classmates will most likely take place over a
chat board or through instant messaging. And unfortunately, just like a traditional
college, there are still homework assignments, papers and tests that often require
firm due dates.
