Writing is a skill that many people use in a variety of workplace disciplines in the business, academic, medical and legal fields to name just a few. While good writing comes easily to some, others struggle to clearly articulate their thoughts. There are formulaic tried and true approaches to writing though that get to the essence of writing itself. What does it mean to effectively communicate? Who is the audience? Why should they, or why do they care about what I have to say? How should I organize the information in my writing? How do I pace my writing? How do I transition from point to point? This course attempts to condense down the complexities of writing in a way that makes sense to writers of vastly different skill sets. From the beginning writer to the college essayist... I draw significantly from my 13 year writing career, and my accompanying online writing portfolio to provide writers of all skills an advantage the untutored are missing. This course can assist you with improving your general English skills and writing techniques. I can also help you to prepare for the verbal component of the SAT, ACT, and GRE.
I recently finished my M.A in English -- Technical Writing. I have about three years of actual in the class teaching experience. I taught 8th and 9th grade. Also, I taught ESL and TOEFL. I have an online portfolio with around 300 classroom activities.
